Somatic care rooted in community.

Bay Area Somatic Therapy Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in San Francisco with a vision to offer somatic and trauma-informed therapy, low-fee groups for complex and intergenerational trauma, and clinician training for communities across the Bay Area and California.

We especially welcome BIPOC individuals, queer and trans folks, the neurodivergent community, and anyone who has felt unseen or harmed by traditional mental health systems.

A place to be met with care

Shared anchor

Through co-regulation and mutual trust, we build a foundation of safety that allows your system to settle and expand.

Body-based healing

We work with sensations, boundaries, and nervous system support.

Community care

Our nonprofit model exists to keep doors open to those who have been underserved, excluded, or harmed by traditional mental health systems.

A community based approach

Bay Area Somatic Therapy Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to somatic and trauma‑informed mental health care for adults experiencing chronic stress, systemic oppression, burnout, relational challenges, and complex or intergenerational trauma.

We believe healing happens not only through insight, but through the body, relationships, and nervous system sustainability. Our work supports people in befriending the nervous system, while reclaiming their sense of connection and empowerment.

A clinic and training center for somatic psychology:

In addition to providing therapy services, our center is growing to serve as a training and professional development site for clinicians who hold a master's, doctorate, or extensive training in somatic psychology, with a special emphasis on somatic group work methodologies. We're committed to strengthening ethical standards and expanding access to high‑quality somatic care in the Bay Area and beyond.

Common questions

What is somatic therapy?

Somatic therapy is a body-based approach to psychotherapy that supports healing through relationship, awareness of sensation, nervous system patterns, and the ways emotions live in the body. It can be especially helpful for trauma, anxiety, shame, and chronic stress, particularly when talk therapy alone hasn’t felt like enough.

The next step is a brief consultation to explore fit, answer questions, and get a sense of what support may feel most helpful.

Bay Area Somatic Therapy Center operates on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone peoples, the original stewards of the San Francisco Peninsula. We come to this work knowing we are not the first. Communities of color, Indigenous peoples, and traditional healers have always known that the body holds memory, grief, and reclamation.
